Telomerase and telomere, I mentioned earlier this year in a post, is the subject for noble prize of this year. It is much much (way) better than the last year's ridicules item. Telomerase and telomere, universal to most eukaryotic organisms (all higher eukaryotes), protect the ends of chromosomes and are the one of the main determinants of the life span. With the abnormal activity, the cancer cells have almost forever active telomerase to keep the cancer cells dividing without any restrains. It is a real physiological advanced knowledge for understanding our lifes.
